Warrior Guides Meet & Greet 2019
Sunday, October 6 officially marked the start of our 2019-2020 Warrior Guides program with our annual Meet & Greet event. The Henderson high school students (Guides) were bused to CCSA in Chester, PA where they met their young Chester student mentee (Brave). Lots of wonderful introductions were made, while others were reunited with their buddy from the previous year. The group of students spent the afternoon playing a variety of ice breaker and get to know you games and activities. Some of the events included 3-legged relay races and a giant game of tic tac toe. The activities helped the pairs begin to learn to work together and have some fun alone the way.
Another fun activity of the day included an inflatable obstacle course outside. The pairs competed against one another while racing through the bounce course. There were lots of laughs and excitement. Following these adventurous games and competitions, the pairs slowed things down and enjoyed a tasty dinner of pizza and salad. Durning dinner the Guides and Braves participated in some more one-on-one question and answer activities. The pairs sat together and learned more about each other.
At the end of the night the group was treated to a wonderful motivational presentation from former NFL players Jack Brewer and Jonathan Casillas. The American Heros presentation apart of the Jack Brewer Foundation, gave some great insight into what it means to be a mentor and how this program is something not to be taken lightly. The students left the event both hopeful and excited for the wonderful year of Warrior Guides ahead and all that it will entail.
