Rustin High School has joined the Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation, partnering with Henderson High School on Open Bowl! Rustin juniors Savannah Dysard and Kelsey Pryze assisted Henderson seniors Renee Kontos and Allie Stein who made Open Bowl their senior project. The event took place on Saturday, January 26th at the Palace Bowling and Entertainment Center in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. It was a fantastic event. There was a terrific turnout from the Chester children and the Rustin and Henderson volunteers had a great time, serving side by side together!
120 Chester children, from six different elementary schools, in grades 1-5, arrived at the Palace and were welcomed by 40 volunteers from Rustin, 30 from Henderson, a few from West Chester University, and even a family who drove out from New Jersey for the event.
Each lane was filled by two high school students and 3 or 4 Chester children. The groups had lots of fun showing off their best bowling moves and then took it to the dance floor once the DJ really got going with their favorite tunes. It was the high school students who got up their courage first and jumped onto the dance floor, but they were quickly followed by the Chester children who really had a lot of talent to display.
Everyone enjoyed pizza, soda and then some delicious cake. The Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation is so grateful to have had the opportunity to introduce Rustin High School to its friends in Chester and the hope is that Rustin will continue to join the Foundation in its open events and may even bring new events to the Foundation, requesting sponsorship!
Special thanks:
