Drive-In Movie 2021
This past Saturday, May 1, the Foundation held a new and creative Open Event in Chester – “Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse” was presented on the big screen in the parking lot of Chester Charter Scholars Academy. 75 Chester families attended the Drive-In event in their own cars. They were greeted by friendly Foundation volunteers and then were directed as to where to park in order to follow CDC guidelines.
Children were able to visit our Concession Stand where our volunteers worked hard to make sure everyone received cinema style to-go boxes filled with buttery movie theater popcorn, large candy bars, glow in the dark cups with the Foundation’s logo on them, and water bottles.
Big Vars was also on-site and provided a delicious sweet treat of Mango and Strawberry Lemon water ice for every participant and volunteer.
Chester families were able to enjoy a brief promotional video produced by the Foundation to tell them about all of our programs from Open Events through Launch and to announce that registration is now open for Camp Lionheart! The kids were thrilled to hear that and were happy to learn about all of our offerings. Then, under cover of darkness and a sky filled with twinkling stars, the premiered movie began. The families loved the cartoon style of Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, and the entertaining storyline.
The weather was fantastic and the smiles were infectious! Some families watched from inside their cars; others sat together on blankets in the flatbeds of their pick up trucks, or popped open the hatch of their SUV! Some even came in pajamas! It was a fabulous Open Event that introduced many to the Foundation and our programs. Thank you to everyone who was available to make our first Drive-In Movie event such a success and for those who participated!
