On Tuesday June 4th, arguably the most beautiful day of the year to date, the second Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Memorial Golf Outing took place at the beautiful Penn Oaks Country Club. Sixty golfers set out to conquer Penn Oaks’ 18 holes as well as an additional long drive, and closest to the pin contests on special holes. The weather was idea, and the day was absolutely spectacular. The event was truly a first-class affair, but the mood was friendly and welcoming and every ability level was fairly represented. Every golfer had a fantastic time, meeting new people, making new friends, and enjoying the phenomenal day. What an outstanding event! Everyone had so much fun!
A bountiful lunch beforehand and an exquisite dinner afterwards, were both catered by Penn Oaks. Awards were given out at dinner for the winners of: the long drive, closest to the pin, best scoring foursome, and worst scoring foursome. A silent auction was also held amidst dinner. The meals were a chance for the golfers to socialize and get to know each other and to laugh and laugh and laugh. Everyone was in a light-hearted and relaxed mood and it made for a fantastic day on the golf course.
The proceeds of the golf outing are going towards sponsoring 88 Chester children to go to Camp Paradise in early August. Thank you to everybody who participated or sponsored a hole, and a special thank you to Steve Natalie, and John and Debbie Goebel for coordinating the event and making it all possible.
