On January 18th, The Foundation hosted its 10th Annual Open Bowl at the Palace Bowling and Entertainment Center in Downingtown, PA. Over 80 Chester 2nd – 5th graders were bused to the bowling ally where they were graciously greeted by over 80 West Chester area high school and college student volunteers. Despite snowy dreary weather outside, inside the Palace was bursting with excitement. Each lane was filled with lots of happy kids ready to bowl – some for the first time. With the guidance of the West Chester volunteers, the children spent the next 2.5 hours bowling, enjoying pizza and cake, dancing to music and just simply getting to know one another.
Open Events were created to introduce a younger crowd of new participants and volunteers to The Foundation and for them to get a small taste of what we’re all about. We are happy to report there was a decent amount of returning participants, in addition to lots of new faces, who we certainly hope join us again for future events and programs. Thank you so much to our gracious sponsors M&T Bank and Oliver Heating and Cooling, with out your support this annual event would not have been possible.
