One of the Foundation’s most significant short term goals was to donate a scoreboard and PA System to the Henderson High School Varsity Soccer Field. On Thursday, September 16, 2010 a beautiful, brand new 16′ wide 14′ tall LCD scoreboard and PA System was dedicated to the school prior to the boys varsity soccer game against Downingtown East High School.
With hundreds of friends supporting Andrew’s family with their attendance, the ceremony began under light showers. Mr. Robert Sokolowski, Principal of Henderson High School gave some openning remarks and introduced Reverend Billy Burch, Pastor of Student Ministries at Christ Community Church. Billy spoke about his close relationship with Andrew and then encouraged the student body to set goals for themselves and work hard to attain them. He emplored them to put their individual talents to good work. Andrew’s father, Andy, spoke about his son and the goals of the Foundation and then Billy prayed over the school, the student body, the athletes, coaches, teachers, administration and guests.
Andrew’s friends from Youth Group, playing in a band called Zarephath, performed a special piece in honor of Andrew called, “In Remembrance Of…”. The band’s lead singer, Megan Reno, was exceptionally moving. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, the unveiling of the scoreboard by the captains of both the boys and girls varsity teams, and then the lighting of the scoreboard.
