Henderson High School Seniors Ashley Kleckner and Christopher Lott recently completed the 3rd Annual School Supplies and Uniform Drive for the children of Chester, Pennsylvania. Ashley and Chris put out hundreds of flyers and a dozen posters around town and staged collection bins at six different locations in the area in an effort to gather school supplies and back packs during a week period.
They were able to collect 90 beautiful knapsacks and stuff each one with spiral notebooks, a three ring binder, loose leaf paper, pens, pencils, glue sticks, a ruler, a pencil box, markers, crayons, colored pencils, a pair of scissors and more! In addition, water bottles were added to the backpacks and many even received NFL earmuffs!
Ashley and Chris made two separate trips to Chester to deliver the goods. They visited Widener Partnership Charter School and Chester Community Charter School during the first week of September and the new Chester Charter School for the Arts during the week of September 10th. In addition, $930 was raised by the Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation for school uniforms. That money was divided by the three schools, plus Frederick Douglass Christian School so that the children who are most in need can get free uniforms.
The Foundation is grateful for Ashley and Chris’s efforts to best prepare the children at those schools for a terrific academic year. A huge thank you goes out to the West Chester community for the generosity shown to the City of Chester.
