Saturday, April 5, 2014 was an especially windy spring day. Finally the weather had warmed up, even just a bit from the frigid winter, and the Warrior Guides took advantage of it with a Field Day, held at Henderson High School. The event was partially outdoors and even included Dairy Queen! The event was organized by West Chester University, Phys Ed Education major, Shannon Nolan, with the help of other WCU Phys Ed Education Club members.
When the Braves first arrived from Chester, they, along with their Warrior Guide, were either placed on a purple and gold RAMS team, or a maroon and silver WARRIORS team. Then they were divided up into 5 groups and they rotated from station to station in fierce competition with each other.
The stations included Tug-Of-War, Golf (sponsored by First Tee of Greater Philadelphia), Hula Hoop Games, Dizzy Bat and even Water Cup Relay. Everyone had a lot of fun, just being silly and racing against one another. The best part was watching the kids just be really comfortable with each other and kid around.
After all the games the entire group headed into the cafeteria and enjoyed pizza and baked ziti with a water bottle and then a bit of pick up basketball in the gym. Before heading back to Chester, the whole lot of them walked down to Dairy Queen for blizzards! It really was a fantastic afternoon! Only one event left this year in Warrior Guides…the Phillies Game on 5/18/14. Can’t wait!
