The Warrior Guides filled the stands for the Henderson football game versus Coatesville High School on Friday, October 18th. 146 Henderson students along with their 4th, 5th, or 6th grade Chester friends crowded the stadium, faces painted and pink necklaces aglow (in support of Breast Cancer awareness) and joined the rest of the fans to cheer on the home team against a formidable and undefeated opponent, Coatesville High. Before the game the Henderson Administration organized a show of support for the Coatesville community considering all that they have had to endure with the texting scandal and the racism involved in that. The message delivered on the field prior to the game by the Coatesville team Chaplain was powerful and inspiring, encouraging us to allow our light extinguish the darkness.
Although the football game was the highlight of the evening, the excitement began for the Chester kids when they arrived and joined their high school friends in the gymnasium. After getting reacquainted, the pairs went into the cafeteria for a Chick-Fil-A sandwich, chips, an apple, a dessert and lemonade or iced tea. Then the face painting began and everyone got ready for the game.
The Chester kids really enjoyed themselves at the game and particularly appreciated the attention from their Warrior Guide. The pairs are looking forward to bowling together at The Palace in Downingtown in November.
