Lauren Andrews and Diana Cunningham, two seniors at Henderson High School dedicated their summer to collecting thousands of necessary school supplies and 140 gorgeous and sturdy back packs for the children of Chester, PA. This effort, the Foundation’s 4th Annual School Supplies and Uniform Drive was an incredible success.
The girls sorted and stuffed the back packs and carried them down to the Better Living Center at the corner of 6th Street and Yarnall in Chester for the 8th Annual Chester Community Fair held on Sunday, August 25th from 2pm until 6pm. The Foundation combined its effort with other organizations so that in total, over 540 back packs were distributed to eager young students.
In addition, several students who needed new uniforms for school this year were provided with them as a result of donations towards the Uniform Drive. We are so thankful to these girls and to the West Chester community for its incredible generosity. We know that this effort will help lots of Chester youth be prepared for a successful 2013/2014 academic year!
